"Self-reliance and Self-esteem"

'Our children are the messages we deliver to a future we may never see' ... according to a well-known educator. The truth of these words points to the importance of a meaningful early childhood educational program, for here is where communication really begins. For most children it is the first introduction to social interaction, security, trust, and responsibility beyond his or her immediate family.

It is also the beginning of self-esteem and self-restraint outside of their parental relationships and these concepts have a lasting impact on a child's future development.  While we might wish that there was a magic wand that would build a positive self-concept and help every child reach full potential, each youngster must discover his or her own special pathway.

Sometimes a child discovers such satisfaction through arts and crafts, games, song, or interactive play--even the early math, science or language opportunities we try to provide. Field trips add another dimension through achievement and helps stimulate new exploration.

Often parents are amazed as their child begins to exhibit qualities of self-esteem, self-reliance, and self-restraint at home. We often hear these changes described as "grown up", "more resourceful" or "easier to communicate with".  We love to partner with parents in this evolution!
